Mblem by Mandy Moore

Mandy Moore is more commonly known as a musician and an actress. The latter being my favorite form of her work...have you seen her in TV Show Scrubs or the movie Saved? If not, then you will know she is not a sugary, fake pop star who can't act. In fact, I think she is a great actress so I'm really excited about the expansion of her line called Mblem. From what I've seen about the new collection - which includes knit dresses - she puts herself into the designs like she does with her acting and music. That's what I like most about her. She's not about the celebrity or pleasing the masses - she's quietly unique and all her own.

About Mblem (from Nylon magazine):
Is Mblem inspired by your personal style?
Yeah, definitely to a degree. It kind of comes from a selfish place—like what I would want to wear on stage or in real life or at an event… all of that gets infused in the line. I’m a tall girl so I initially started out just making T-shirts that were long enough, and the line has sort of grown and evolved as I have. I want the clothes to be comfortable, classic, feminine, and sexy, but still modest.
Describe the new collection of knit dresses.
Honestly, it’s the easy little dresses that I want to wear in my day-to-day life. I’m not a very fussy dresser. I like to be able to get dressed in the morning and still feel like I am chic enough to make it from day to night. Also, I am a huge fan of vintage silhouettes and design, and I just think initially that’s where a lot of inspiration comes.
Who is your style icon?
Oh goodness. I am obsessed with Grace Kelley. I love people who really feel comfortable in their own skin and make it a point to find their own style. I think Jennifer Lopez always looks fantastic and she has her own thing going on. I tend to like people that dress for themselves.
